Welcome Past, Present and Future Clients and Friends!

Robert is now taking appointments for new client matters in the areas of law that people need most:

I take the types of cases that real people need help with.  I would not say that I'm a 'general practitioner' though.  The community in Central Oregon needs someone to help work through Domestic Relations issues, Criminal problems, and other legal issues that hit local working people everyday - small claims to wills and estate planning; personal injury to government not following its own regulations.  Although this is a means of supporting my family, I take cases that have real human beings needing real solutions. I can represent clients anywhere in the state, but mainly appear in the courts in Bend (Deschutes County), Prineville (Crook), and Madras (Jefferson). I fight the fights that need fighting, and leave the fights that don't to the lawyers who only have dollar signs in their eyes.

Words of Wisdom
"If you think you need a lawyer, you probably do."
-Most people wait to talk to a lawyer after they have a mess on their hands.  Often times, a lawyer could have helped avoid the mess to begin with.
"The law probably does not mean what you think it does."
-Often times, people believe that a law or statute means something other than what the courts say it does.  One simple example is the Miranda Warning - it doesn't mean that if you want an attorney to be present the police will provide one.  It means that if you request a lawyer, and you are under arrest, they can't question you unless your lawyer is present.  It is a subtle distinction that makes a big difference.
"Advice and knowledge are a lawyer's stock in trade." - Ben Franklin
"He who represents himself has a fool for a client."
"Fight because you need to, not because you can."

Services

I provide legal services intended to have resolution and an end to a problem.  I look for solutions, not to pick pointless fights with the other party that just end up costing my clients more money with no real results.  I provide affordable services on a variety of legal issues such as Domestic Relations (Family Law), Criminal Defense, issues involving administrative agencies (DMV, DOT, PUC), and simple wills and estate plans, and helping people with local governments.

At this time, I do not meet with clients at my office, and sometimes use other attorneys' conference rooms or meet with clients in private at local libraries. This will probably change in the coming months, but for now it helps keep my rates affordable.  All my communications with clients are confidential.

Why I Can Help You
I can help people with a difficult situation or problem by utilizing my legal education and experience to find legal solutions to the problems.  By creating agreements, contracts, orders and judgments, you will have the legal backing to rest assured that the problem is solved, or that you have the ability to take enforcement action against the other party.  I work to keep fees as low as possible, and I understand the difficult situations that force people to need an attorney.  I sort out the mess, tell you straight, and help you get on with more enjoyable parts of life.  I am here to shoulder the legal burden of life's problems, and find a resolution to them for you.

I schedule normal appointments Monday through Friday, 10 am to 5 pm.  Special accommodations can be made for weekend and evening appointments.  I will arrange to meet at a location of your choosing, although the Local Libraries are often an acceptable choice.  Normal consultations are $50, and I take up to an hour - not just a 1/2 hour - to go over your issue, what I can do for you, and what my fees are. I also do take Oregon State Bar Referrals.
